Arauco, which makes sustainable forest products, is expanding its existing particleboard operations in Marlboro County, according to a news release from the South Carolina Department of Commerce.
The $30 million investment is expected to expand capacity at the company's site on Willamette Road in Bennettsville.
According to the release, Arauco has five main business areas - forestry, wood pulp, sawn timber, panels and energy.
While the release does quote a company spokesperson as saying the investment will generate additional long-term jobs, it does not say how many jobs or when the positions would be available.
Arauco was founded in 1967 in Chile. The company's North American headquarters are located in Atlanta, GA.
